The Low Joy Ceiling met through on ad on the bulletin board at their local Long & McQuade. Their debut EP, Crooked Bangs, was written in a backyard nuclear fallout shelter and recorded in the belly of a whale. The EP was recorded live off the floor in a single take using only one microphone. Also, if you play it backwards it will reveal the coordinates to the Baalbek alien landing site.

Their sound draws influence from College rock, power pop, the paisley underground, and a number of other interchangeable sub-genres that have fallen out of fashion. Inspired by the likes of Guided By Voices and The Replacements, and utterly appalled by Foo Fighters, the band crafts economical and thoughtful rock songs.
